ILAF (International League Against Fascism) is an international non-profit initiative and a UK-based organization dedicated to protecting democratic values, human rights, and fundamental freedoms. The Origin of the Name: Strength in a Word and the “I love” Declaration
A key pillar of the movement’s identity is the acronym ILAF. While it primarily stands for the International League Against Fascism, it carries a profound emotional resonance on a deeper level. Within the context of the movement, the word signifies “I love”—expressing a deep-seated love for freedom, for humanity, and for the truth.
The name and identity of the movement did not emerge from academic theory but naturally from the letter “A” and the interjection of relief. It represents that deep breath out a person makes when they feel peace or are finally unburdened. ILAF aims to bring this sense of relief to those suffering under the weight of oppression and lack of freedom, transforming that moment of release into a clear and uncompromising stance: REJECT FASCISM!

It is fascinating that the movement has built its vision upon a simple human sigh of relief (“Aaa…”). In my view, it is precisely this sincerity—elevating the emotion of relief into a philosophical direction and merging it with the “I love” declaration—that makes ILAF an authentic force.
